Storytime: I bought a bouquet filled with mums to use as a reference for a portrait commission. The client wanted flowers in the painting, so I bought these to work from. Well, I couldn't let a bouquet go without painting it on its own. About two years later I spotted the frame at an overstock sale, and knew that it was meant for this painting. Why Mardi Gras? The colors!
