Workshops

Each workshop is 2.5 hours in my studio, 3065 N. Rockwell, #201
I provide you with all materials, which includes: a 9 x 12 canvas, acrylic paints, brushes, easels, and aprons.
I'll give a brief instruction and then let you go! I'm available for as much--or as little--help as you'd like.
Capacity is 6 people per workshop.

Logistical note: My studio is located on the second floor, and does not a public elevator, however the building does have a freight elevator.

You'll paint from life, looking at vases of wildflowers and gourds. This subject is a great one to focus on shapes. I'll have a variety of flowers, greenery, and small pumpkins arranged to give a colorful autumn painting.

You'll paint this colorful scene taken from Burnham island at Graceland Cemetery. I'll guide you in mixing colors to get the rich shadows and in making a simple reflection in the pond.

In honor of my favorite artist Wayne Thiebaud's birthday, we'll paint a subject he was famous for: pie! We'll paint from life then probably eat our subject after we paint it. This subject provides simple shapes and bright colors.

Online Class

This fall, I'll be teaching an online landscape class through the Yellow Barn Studio. See below for details. Registration is open now. Click here to register.
The Yellow Barn is located in Glen Echo, Maryland, so my class time is listed in Eastern Standard Time--this means 10:00 a.m. in Chicago! Learn a little more about what it's like to take a class with me by watching a few short videos on my YouTube channel.

Parties

Paint & Sip I'll give you as much instruction as you want, or I'll hang back and refill your water tubs and wine glasses. See below for themes that I can prepare for your group.
Birthday Party We'll pick a subject based on the birthday kid's wishes. I do love a theme, so give your weirdest interest, kiddo. We'll do a warm-up exercise, paint, snack, and play some art games if there's time.

Medium & Size: Acrylic paint on a 10" or 9x12" canvas. It dries quickly, and you'll be able to leave without fear of smudging the paint.

Themes: I can create a class based on your interest, or you may prefer to choose a popular subject, such as your pet, a Chicago landscape, floral still life, or a favorite vacation spot.

Duration: Classes begin at two hours and can go longer if you'd like.

Occupancy: up to 6

Pricing: $50 per person/2-hour session. Class price includes instruction and supplies. Payment is due at the time of the event.

Other Things to Know: My building does NOT have wi-fi or air conditioning. My studio is located on the second floor and is accessible by a stairwell, however the building does have a freight elevator.
